Helpful Hints for the SubAssessment
No matter what your educational level is or what teaching experience you have had, this test will assess your understanding and application of the principles taught in the
Substitute Teacher Handbook, 6th Edition
.
The
SubInstructor
training is available on a disc or online. You can spend 20 minutes or 12 hours viewing and listening to examples of the principles discussed in the handbook.
Your composite score is comprised of your maximum score from each of the five (5) portions. The Classroom Management section is weighted more heavily than the other sections and has the greatest number of questions (18).
You may take each of the five (5) portions of the test four (4) times. They may be taken at different times. At the end of each section you will see the questions that were answered incorrectly, but you will not be given the correct answers.
Contact your district if you are unsure of the required score.
A timer, visible on the computer screen, will count down for each question and turn red when you have 30 seconds remaining. If you do not respond within two minutes, the whole test will close and count as one of your four attempts for that section.
