Meet the staff:

 is the director of the Substitute Teaching Institute at Utah State University, the principal investigator for STEP-IN (Substitute Teacher Educational Program Initiative), and has served as principal investigator for several other substitute teacher projects. He is the publisher of the Substitute Teacher Handbooks, the SubExchange newsletter, and the SubJournal. Geoff holds an MBA and MA in Educational Economics.  is the director of the Elementary CORE Academy at Utah State University. He develops curriculum, field-tests strategies, teaches professional development workshops and seminars to educators, and is continually working on new methods and products for delivering training content to educators. Max holds a BS in elementary education and an M.Ed in Elementary Education/Curriculum and Instruction. His classroom experience in grades 4, 5, and 6, coupled with district-level experience as a professional development leader, bring effective and practical instructional methods to the products and services of STI. is our assistant office manager. She is currently involved in research for various international projects dealing with humanitarian aid. Whenever she is in the office and not roaming around Africa, she helps run the office and does whatever needs to be done. Alexis graduated from Utah State University with her degree in Exercise Science. Email Alexis at alexis@sti.usu.edu.

is a graduate of USU. She is an on-site staff writer, researcher, and counselor, working with colleges and school districts in developing substitute teacher programs. Email Barbara at barbara@sti.usu.edu.

  is an office assistant at STI. Along with her many duties around the office, she maintains our online library which currently contains over 800 articles. She is also a full-time student at Utah State University. Email Julie at julie@sti.usu.edu.

  is the development specialist in charge of coordinating on-site workshops and training sessions. Her responsibilities include travel arrangements, support documentation, and promotion coordination. She proudly claims a BIS degree from USU. Email Debby at debra@sti.usu.edu.

  is the graphic designer for STI. His responsibilities include designing the look and feel for STI and the products they develop. He works on layout, design, and production for covers, booklets, handouts, and also helps with Web design. He is currently attending USU as a graphic design student and will be graduating within the century (hopefully). Email Don at don@sti.usu.edu.

 is the district support specialist for the Substitute Teaching Institute. Blaine has extensive experience in teaching staff development workshops and presents in several state and national conferences on Best Practices in Recruiting, Training, and Retaining Substitute Teachers. Blaine received his BS in History and an M.Ed in Curriculum Development. Blaine is actively involved with school district personnel throughout the country in scheduling and presenting SubManagement, SubReady, Train-the-Trainer, and Substitute Teacher Training workshops.   handles the logistics of STI as the chief distribution engineer and aquarist. Shipping orders for STI handbooks, manuals, brochures and various items is Craig's main responsibility. He is currently studying Exercise Science with an emphasis in Physical Therapy at USU. He enjoys maintaining the 100-gallon saltwater aquarium in our office, where his main goal is to KEEP THE FISH ALIVE!
