Substitute Teaching Institute

SubWeek

The Substitute Teaching Institute at Utah State University is pleased to present the 7th National Substitute Teacher Recognition Week, also known as SubWeek. These five days are dedicated to the approximately 270,000 men and women that fill in for permanent teachers everyday in the United States. This week is meant to be celebrated in conjunction with Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5-9, 2008.

Days for the seventh annual SubWeek are May 5-9, 2008.

Because of permanent teacher absenteeism, few realize one full year of a child's K-12 education is taught by substitute teachers. Often with limited training, these valued educators fill a void in what is oftentimes challenging situations.

Please utilize the included materials to make SubWeek a success in your area. These materials include:

- Sample Press Release
- 30 second Public Service Announcement
- 60 second Public Service Announcement
- List of Activities for Schools Districts/Personnel Offices
- List of Activities for Local Schools/Administrators/Faculty
- List of Activities for Parents/Students/Community
- Featured Daily Activities
- Sample Letter to the Editor
- Planning Schedule
- Proclamation
